The story behind MarketplaceExit and why I believe every marketplace seller should understand their options before moving to Shopify.
I Never Planned to Build a Website Like This
Hi, I’m Shaddam Hossain.
For more than 12 years, I’ve been building websites, ecommerce stores, and software for businesses around the world.
When I started my career, I wasn’t thinking about marketplaces, Shopify, or content websites.
I simply enjoyed building things.
I learned web development, worked with clients, and spent years creating WordPress websites, Shopify stores, and custom ecommerce solutions. Every project helped me understand not just how websites work, but how businesses grow online.
Over time, I earned more than 210 five-star reviews on Fiverr, helping businesses with website development, Shopify, WordPress, ecommerce projects, and technical migrations.
Later, I began building my own products. Today, I’m the founder of TLinky, and I also created SkyBootstrap, my WordPress plugin brand. One of my plugins is now used on more than 200,000 WordPress websites.
Looking back, none of those projects were leading me toward a content website.
But they were preparing me for one.
I Kept Meeting Marketplace Sellers Facing the Same Problem
As the years passed, I noticed something interesting.
The conversations I had with clients started to change.
People were no longer asking me only to build websites.
Instead, they wanted help making bigger business decisions.
Many of them had already built successful businesses on marketplaces.
Some sold handmade products on Etsy.
Some built successful brands on Amazon.
Others relied on eBay or TikTok Shop.
They weren’t struggling to make sales.
They were struggling with what came next.
They wanted more control over their business.
More control over their brand.
More control over their customers.
More control over their future.
For many of them, Shopify seemed like the obvious next step.
But deciding to move and knowing how to move were two very different things.
The Questions Were Almost Always the Same
Every marketplace seller had a different business.
But their questions sounded surprisingly similar.
“Is now the right time to leave Etsy?”
“Will I lose my customers if I leave Amazon?”
“Can I move my products without starting over?”
“What happens to my search visibility?”
“Can I still sell on marketplaces after opening a Shopify store?”
“How much will the move actually cost?”
These weren’t technical questions.
They were business questions.
And they deserved answers based on real experience, not guesswork.
Then I Started Looking for Better Resources
Whenever clients asked those questions, I searched for the best resources I could recommend.
Honestly, I expected to find them.
Instead, I kept finding the same kinds of articles.
Some repeated information from official documentation.
Some compared platform features without explaining what the migration process actually looks like.
Some promised that moving to Shopify was always the right decision.
Very few looked at the situation from the perspective of a marketplace seller.
Very few talked about timing.
Very few explained the trade-offs.
Very few answered the questions I heard from real business owners.
That surprised me.
After years of working with ecommerce businesses, I knew those questions weren’t rare.
They were the questions almost everyone asked.
That’s When MarketplaceExit Started
At some point, I stopped searching for the guide I wanted.
I realized it didn’t exist.
So I decided to build it.
Not another generic Shopify blog.
Not another website publishing hundreds of articles about every ecommerce topic.
I wanted to build a resource focused on one specific journey.
Helping marketplace sellers understand what it really takes to move to Shopify.
That focus shapes every decision I make for this website.
MarketplaceExit isn’t about every ecommerce platform.
It’s about helping sellers who have built their business on marketplaces like:
- Etsy
- Amazon
- eBay
- TikTok Shop
understand whether moving to Shopify is the right next step.
What Makes MarketplaceExit Different
My goal isn’t to convince every seller to migrate.
Sometimes staying on a marketplace is the better decision.
Sometimes your business simply isn’t ready yet.
Good advice should help people make better decisions, even when the answer isn’t what they expected.
That’s the approach I want every article on MarketplaceExit to follow.
Whenever possible, I combine my own experience working with ecommerce businesses with information from official platform documentation.
If I reference marketplace fees, policies, or technical requirements, I verify them before publishing.
If I can’t verify something with confidence, I won’t present it as fact.
If important information changes, I update the content.
I’d rather publish fewer trustworthy guides than hundreds of articles that add more noise to the internet.
What You’ll Find Here
MarketplaceExit is built for marketplace sellers who want to understand their options before moving to Shopify.
Over time, you’ll find resources covering topics like:
- Etsy to Shopify migration
- Amazon to Shopify migration
- eBay to Shopify migration
- TikTok Shop to Shopify migration
- Marketplace fee comparisons
- Migration checklists
- Shopify setup guides
- SEO considerations
- Migration tools
- Common mistakes to avoid
- Building an independent ecommerce business
Every guide begins with the same question:
“What would genuinely help a marketplace seller make a better decision?”
If an article doesn’t answer that question, it doesn’t belong on this website.
This Is Just the Beginning
MarketplaceExit is still growing.
There are more guides to write.
More marketplaces to research.
More tools to test.
More questions to answer.
My goal isn’t to become the biggest ecommerce website.
My goal is to build one of the most trusted resources for marketplace sellers who want honest, practical guidance before moving to Shopify.
If you’re thinking about leaving Etsy, Amazon, eBay, or TikTok Shop, I hope this website helps you understand your options, avoid costly mistakes, and build a business you truly own.
Whether you decide to migrate next month, next year, or not at all, I hope the information you find here helps you make that decision with confidence.
Thank you for being here, and welcome to MarketplaceExit.
